I came to Alice Springs with nothing in order but a one-week housesit and the vague impression that God was calling me here for the season. But perhaps it wasn’t a call as much as an answer to my constant desire to see God do the miraculous in my life, or maybe just an answer to my prayer, ‘Lord, could I please escape the dreary, sunless Adelaide winter?’
Whether or not it was His voice that sent me here, it has been His love for me that has provided for my every need to have been met.
Of these desires, over and above has He responded to my inane curiosity for the different people of the world and my love for the unexpected. I have found it not to be uncommon to eat lunch next to people nursing baby kangaroos or have Indigenous children I have only just met occupy a mattress next to the bed where I sleep. Continue reading
